Youngblood Pressed Mineral Rice Powder

Remember when I asked for suggestions on which compact powder to get?  Well, considering that I only have two fans (Hi Lalaine and Cla!), I wasn't surprised when I didn't get any recommendations. HAHA!  But since I really needed to get a new powder, I made my way to Beauty Bar the day I pat on the last few particles left from my Maybelline Compact Powder (which I still do love, and should you decide to get one and you're morena...try it in "Honey" shade)  I wanted to get one from MAC, but I was in Eastwood at that time and since they didn't carry MAC, I just decided to browse through Beauty Bar's extensive offering.

I initially had my heart on The Balm's Sexy Mama transluscent powder.  This is what my little sister Boomie is using and I really liked it the one time I tried it on coz it has this AMAZING mattifying effect...a winner for me and my forever oily face!  However I find that the shade isn't really universal, and goes on better on lighter people.  But check out it's super cute packaging!! Winner!!:

I then saw the counter for Youngblood and remembered my friend Anne's words of praise for this brand whch is actually a mineral cosmetics line.  The saleslady recommended that I get their Pressed Mineral Rice Powder which works best as a setting powder and works just as well on touch-ups.  She then sampled it on me using a large fluffy brush, though the compact comes with a white round sponge.  I wasnt really sold, but since I really needed it already..I purchased it.  This is currently priced at Php 1,850.00.

Here's the product description from Youngblood's website http://www.ybskin.com/shop/index.php?cPath=21_33&osCsid=5867aa8ff6276b11c15c67b87f9ca804:

The pressed version of our exquisitely silky Mineral Rice Setting Powder, offered in a convenient compact for on-the-go use. Controls shine and helps diminish the appearance of pores and fine lines to create a flawless, long-lasting matte finish. 100% talc free. 0.35oz/10g

I agree 100% to the above description by the way :)

I now use it as a setting powder in the morning with a fluffy brush, but just with the sponge that comes with it when outside the house.  So far, I've been liking the product because it does the job which for me means: it keeps the shine away!  I got it in the "Medium" shade which perfectly blends well with my skin (They have 3 shades: Light, Medium, and Dark).  It's also not hard to get an even coverage coz it goes on your skin smoothly.  The result?   An even colored, matte and oil-free face! The product is really growing on me the more I use it.  No worries too on getting breakouts coz it is "mineralized".  The packaging--I also like coz it has a magnet which keeps the compact closed as opposed to other compacts which closes through plastic indentions on the side (gets ba? naloka nako i-explain haha)

Here are photos of the product:

and here are photos of me with the product on, sans other makeup products.  This was taken in the morning after brushing the powder over my MAC Studio Sculpt foundation. (excuse my funny face :p)

To end, here are some application tips from the website which I only found out about now.  Cool, excited to try them out (I currently only do the last one haha):

To prime face for long lasting oil control: Apply rice powder with a sponge or brush over desired areas, then apply foundation. To reduce appearance of large pores: Apply with cosmetic sponge before makeup application. Stipple and roll sponge to set product. To achieve matte finish when using the natural mineral loose foundation: Blend 2 parts foundation with 1 part rice powder. Apply with brush for a shine free coverage. To set makeup for long lasting wear: Simply dust Mineral Rice Setting powder over your foundation with a large fluffy cosmetic brush.
