FAMEALY DAY IS TODAY! :)

Despite the bad & gloomy weather, don't forget to go home early today to celebrate FAMEALY DAY!  I am in full support of Lucky Me's campaign to make eating together with the family more of a habit.  Eating together with the family has proven benefits like making the bond between family members stronger resulting to more added benefits such as well-brought up offsprings, helping them veer away from the dangers that society currently pose such as alcohol, drugs, and pre-marital sex.

See, even celebrities are in full support of this campaign!

So rush home later, and make today the start of a daily "eating together" habit :D

September 26 is FAMEALY DAY!

Hey guys, don't forget TO GO HOME EARLY on Monday, September 26 to celebrate this year's Famealy Day and have an awesome dinner with your families!  I personally have been trying to make this more of a daily habit, leading me to skip gym for about 2 weeks now. hahahah But hey! It's a pretty good cause :)

Below is the current TVC from Lucky Me's Kainang Pamilya Mahalaga campaign...though I enjoyed the second one more because of the presence of JLC haha (ang lusog niya, Lucky Me making him more healthy? haha)..and Sharon looks great! And is it me, or is Sarah super blooming now more than ever?  and who doesnt take a second look at Derek's cuts. HAHA :)  Enough about that now, if they can take time out from their busy schedules to spend this special day with their families, then so should you! No excuses!

HAVE A HAPPY FAMEALY DAY! :)

The Audrina Top : PHP 449

I admit it.  I named the items I’m selling online after The Hills characters.  There’s really no rhyme or reason for naming them as such except for my love for the MTV “reality” hit show.  I did however try to match the item style with the characters :D

Like the Audrina Top for example.  Audrina is that girl with jet black hair, stark black eyeliner on both upper & lower lash lines & whose wardrobe consists of mostly blacks, greys and whites.  Despite her rockin’ body, she prefers to wear mostly slouchy tops although there’s no argument that it still showed off her “best assets” as the tops’ draped beautifully on her perfect frame.  Her body is so SOLID (haha sorry for the lack of a better term)  that a worn-in Men’s shirt still looks incredibly sexy on her.

And as such, The Audrina Top should do the same for you!  It will hang over your torso & will create subtle draping by the hem due to the top’s cut, has ¾ sleeves that will hug your arms snug, and is v-neck to show just the right amount of décolletage to lend that sexy vibe.  The LONDON studded print mixes in a pop of aggressiveness which makes the top perfect to match with last year’s liquid leggings, this season’s leather skirts, or always in season jeans…(ripped just about everywhere!)  Throw in your fave hiking boots for maximum rock appeal, or your sky high stilettos that’ll  blow any man away (Note: Red Lipstick optional!)

The Audrina Top is still available at in MEDIUM and LARGE for only Php 449.  Click on the link below to grab one now! :)

MAC Pro Longwear Lipcreme in Good to Go

I know I just blogged about a fave lipstick, and I want to kill myself for being so indecisive, but I think I'm loving another one even more than Saint Germain. GAH.  I love lipsticks too much that I know now that it's impossible to have only one favorite.  So I'll just pick one favorite from a parent color---like one fave for pinks, one fave for reds, one fave for oranges, etc.  Today, I'll share with you my fave orange lipstick... and I believe it will remain as such coz my other orange lipstick is more coral-ly than bright orange and in no way can beat this new fave as im a "bright lipstick" kind of girl despite/inspite of my skin tone.

Orange wasn't really one of my fave colors when I was a kid since it looks so bright and loud.  I'm morena and I grew up as one of the darker kids that I always veered away from all things orange because I believed it clashed with my skin tone.  Thanks to the fashion gods, they one day pointed out how good blindingly bright, neon colors looked against brown skin.  I was still in high school and did not care to follow or even try what were printed in magazines.  It was only in college when I opened up my world to the wonderful world of Beauty and Fashion and started to experiment in colored clothing, shoes and accessories outside the world of black and whites.

Moving on, I finally got my MAC package about 2 weeks ago.  I only got 5 items, 2 of which I bought for my mom.  One of the three that is mine though is MAC's Pro Longwear Lipcreme in Good to Go which I can't help but rave about.

First is the COLOR.  Some would say it's shocking orange, but I think it really does depend from person to person.  I wouldnt have minded a shocking orange really, but upon application, it turned to a warmer shade of orange resulting to a more red-orange shade on me.  I'm not sure if my acidity levels have got something to do with it but that would be my theory for now.  I have yet to test it on my sister who's blessed with a lip shade that works as a perfect canvas for lip color.  But I'm already assuming that it would turn out more neon on her than on me.  Inggit :(  But no worries, I can always use concealer as base to achieve the same shade..hassle nga lang :/  Also, the color is very opaque that a single layer is enough to prettify your pout.)

Second is the FINISH.    I would classifiy it between matte and glossy which I think is the best!  My lips tend to get dry easily which the formulation of the Pro Longwear line easily solves without giving you the "oily lips" look.  Perfect.

Third is the LONGEVITY. I put it on at 9 in the morning and it lasts til after work, around 6PM (note: Even after brushing my teeth after lunch) . enough said.

Fourth is the PACKAGING.  The tube finish is similar to the usual tube, but in terms of shape and size, the Pro Longwear line case is flat on both ends, slightly slimmer and also a bit longer so still not a problem to fit in your everyday makeup kit.  It packs 0.12oz of product, a 0.2 oz difference from the regular lipstick.  When twisted out of the tube, the lipstick/lipcreme has a flat surface which some may find hard to apply directly on the lips.

The verdict?  Get this if you're the type who doesnt like re-applying her lippie every hour or so.  They come in really pretty colors too.  My personal faves are Good to Go and Love Forever!  (I'm just not sure of the availability of the line here in Manila though... the last time I checked, they only have Unlimited on stock.)

***First 2 photos are taken with my mobile phone camera so quality is really grainy.

Youngblood Pressed Mineral Rice Powder

Remember when I asked for suggestions on which compact powder to get?  Well, considering that I only have two fans (Hi Lalaine and Cla!), I wasn't surprised when I didn't get any recommendations. HAHA!  But since I really needed to get a new powder, I made my way to Beauty Bar the day I pat on the last few particles left from my Maybelline Compact Powder (which I still do love, and should you decide to get one and you're morena...try it in "Honey" shade)  I wanted to get one from MAC, but I was in Eastwood at that time and since they didn't carry MAC, I just decided to browse through Beauty Bar's extensive offering.

I initially had my heart on The Balm's Sexy Mama transluscent powder.  This is what my little sister Boomie is using and I really liked it the one time I tried it on coz it has this AMAZING mattifying effect...a winner for me and my forever oily face!  However I find that the shade isn't really universal, and goes on better on lighter people.  But check out it's super cute packaging!! Winner!!:

Sexymama
I then saw the counter for Youngblood and remembered my friend Anne's words of praise for this brand whch is actually a mineral cosmetics line.  The saleslady recommended that I get their Pressed Mineral Rice Powder which works best as a setting powder and works just as well on touch-ups.  She then sampled it on me using a large fluffy brush, though the compact comes with a white round sponge.  I wasnt really sold, but since I really needed it already..I purchased it.  This is currently priced at Php 1,850.00.

Here's the product description from Youngblood's website http://www.ybskin.com/shop/index.php?cPath=21_33&osCsid=5867aa8ff6276b11c15c67b87f9ca804:

The pressed version of our exquisitely silky Mineral Rice Setting Powder, offered in a convenient compact for on-the-go use. Controls shine and helps diminish the appearance of pores and fine lines to create a flawless, long-lasting matte finish. 100% talc free. 0.35oz/10g

I agree 100% to the above description by the way :)

I now use it as a setting powder in the morning with a fluffy brush, but just with the sponge that comes with it when outside the house.  So far, I've been liking the product because it does the job which for me means: it keeps the shine away!  I got it in the "Medium" shade which perfectly blends well with my skin (They have 3 shades: Light, Medium, and Dark).  It's also not hard to get an even coverage coz it goes on your skin smoothly.  The result?   An even colored, matte and oil-free face! The product is really growing on me the more I use it.  No worries too on getting breakouts coz it is "mineralized".  The packaging--I also like coz it has a magnet which keeps the compact closed as opposed to other compacts which closes through plastic indentions on the side (gets ba? naloka nako i-explain haha)

Here are photos of the product:

and here are photos of me with the product on, sans other makeup products.  This was taken in the morning after brushing the powder over my MAC Studio Sculpt foundation. (excuse my funny face :p)

To end, here are some application tips from the website which I only found out about now.  Cool, excited to try them out (I currently only do the last one haha):

To prime face for long lasting oil control: Apply rice powder with a sponge or brush over desired areas, then apply foundation. To reduce appearance of large pores: Apply with cosmetic sponge before makeup application. Stipple and roll sponge to set product. To achieve matte finish when using the natural mineral loose foundation: Blend 2 parts foundation with 1 part rice powder. Apply with brush for a shine free coverage. To set makeup for long lasting wear: Simply dust Mineral Rice Setting powder over your foundation with a large fluffy cosmetic brush.

Urban Flair MNL: SNEAK PEEK!

Here's a sneak peek on 2 of 4 items (HEHE DAMI)  i'll be putting on sale soon :)  To all my friends, bumili kayo kundi 'di na tayo friends. hahaha :D

And here's 1 of 2 shoes I'll be selling as well.  The pair below is actually pre-loved but used only ONCE.  I LOVE THIS, but I ordered them online and got the wrong size.  It looks snug on the photo, but it's actually big for me so I never used it after that one time coz it was so hard to walk in them being loose and all :(

Shoe #2 is Brand NEW so watch out for that. :D

MAC Lipstick in Saint Germain (Amplified Creme)

This is probably the easiest lipstick to review 'coz for me, MAC Saint Germain has no flaws! (Haha mejo biased coz I'm in love with this.)

Getting my hands on this baby took about 2 years.  Though MAC was already available here in the Philippines at that time, never did I get lucky at scoring this from their lipstick counter.  I was so crazy about the barbie pink, almost nude shade that I considered ordering direct from the US..but I never found the time and patience to do so.  I settled for Revlon's Pink Pout from their matte line which I reviewed here: http://www.facebook.com/mobileprotection#!/note.php?note_id=1141727606

Two years after, I decided to finally order online..kere ko na magwait ng 2 months!!  So there I go, happily placing my order, only to receive an email from MAC two days later saying that Saint Germain is currently back ordered and that they cant give me the exact date when it will be available again. Ugh.  I felt like Saint Germain and I weren't meant to be :(

But I didnt give up... I found a friend who was vacationing in the U.S. and nakakahiya man to the nth level, asked her to get me one. TEEHEE.. Of course I paid her naman noh! Yay success! She immediately sent me a message in FB when she got one! :D  I also asked her to get me this TO DIE FOR EYESHADOW PALETTE...which I'll review in the coming days.. wait for it :D

WOW. Haba ng intro ko, sana skinip niyo na lang. HAHAHA!

Anyway, on to the review.

MAC's Saint Germain is a blue-based cotton candy pink, sort of pastel by itself and may not suit everyone BUT I STILL LOVE IT.  I'm an NC42, and Saint Germain is kind of hard to wear on its own with my kind of skin tone.  But what the heck, when the ad for the sugarsweet collection in 2009 came out.. I knew I can pull it off too :P

M187159059

Here's a photo of me wearing Saint Germain:

You be the judge, haha I know not everyone would like it on me but my very criticizing boyfriend liked it on me so MAJOR SUCCESS! I love you Ringo! Haha :D

Unlike Revlon Matte 002 Pink Pout, this one is VERY OPAQUE.  I am acidic and my lips are VERY pigmented.  I was surprised when I first put this on coz it immediately coated my lips with beautiful color with just one swipe. I LOVE IT, I WAS IN LOVE WITH THIS RIGHT THEN AND THERE! Chorna na kung ang light and weird niya at first glance. HAHA

I haven't worn this on it's own though.  Mejo nashy ako sa mga titingin sakin.  Next time I go out at night na lang i'll try.  On it's own, it's not really for day wear.  What I do is layer it over my MAC Barely Nude lipliner to warm up the color...and that's it.  No more gloss on top coz it's an amplified cream formulation which makes it non-drying.  It does stay on the lips for a pretty long time..like today I put it on at 10 AM and my lips were still pretty pink 'til 6PM :D  I got it for US $14.50 plus tax :D

I love pairing his color with smokey eye makeup--PERFECT!  But is still works as well with my usual office makeup of browns and naturals.

GOW NA! BUY NA! You won't regret getting this one! :D

Random: COLLEGE LEGS

Totally random post. I'm actually just waiting for  7 p.m. so that I can leave the office... You see, I'm coding on Tuesdays and I'm scared of getting caught by the MMDA so I just sit here in the office while waiting and do advanced work if there's any, or browse through my fave websites if there's none.. and today i did the latter :P

Upon browsing, I saw a picture of Vanessa Hudgen's golden, perfect, and toned legs.

I MISS MY COLLEGE LEGS!!!!!!! :( Now they're fat, extra short coz theyre fat, dark which should kinda lessen the fatness but doesnt, and icky coz theyre fat.

UGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH.

(Told ya, totally random. HAHA)

Currently Wearing: MAC Studio Sculpt SPF15 Foundation

I wanted to love this product. I want to love all products by MAC. Unfortunately this was just a so-so :(

Remember when I blogged about getting so giddy to get a new foundation? At the time, I quickly browsed through MAC online to look at possible choices to replace my current fave, Maybelline (I think it's called Aqua Smooth foundation, I forgot, sorry :|) . Seeing that I've loved all things MAC that I've purchased, I was kinda expecting I'd love the foundation I'll get from them too.  I was eyeing the Studio Fix Fluid since I really liked it liquid formulation and matte finish.

I first dropped by MAC Shang, but my shade was already out of stock and since they can't give me an exact date on their next shipment, I decided to go to the newly opened Trinoma branch.  The Trinoma branch is not a whole store (yet), just a small stall near Aldo Accessories.  By this time, I was intent on getting my hands on the foundation already coz I really had no foundation left at home.  Lone finishing powder on me just doesnt work.  My face is just THAT uneven :/ Unfortunately, they're also out of my shade for the Studio Fix Fluid.  Bummer!  The sales lady just recmmended another line that I may be interested in, the Studio Sculpt.  She even said that this is a lot better than the Fix Fluid since this gives a more even coverage with a dewy finish.  I tried it on the counter, saw that it perfectly blends with my skin tone, and with the approval of my sister Boomie, purchased it.  This cost me Php 1,900.00 for a 40mL tube.  I believe it only comes in this size.

Here's the product description on MAC's website:

A creamy, luxurious, gel-based foundation that provides medium buildable to high coverage with a natural satin finish. Hydrating, instantly revitalizes the skin while keeping it looking smooth, soft and plush. Long-wearing, water-resistant

The verdict?  I've been using it for about 2 weeks now and I can't say I'm fully satisfied with the product.  Or I just probably expected too much?  I was actually happy the first time I used it.  It was the night I was hailed as Reyna Elena of San Miguel, Bulacan (HAHA!).  But it just started to go downhill after that.  A few hours after application, I feel that the product's just too heavy on my face.  But true to what the sales lady promised, it does give me a dewy glow.  Only, I dont think dewy goes well with OILY. It just highlighted my oiliness :( I think the product would work a lot better on someone with normal, or even dry skin.  The coverage is really light on me, that or it just really blended well with my skin tone.  Haha but I would believe the former as it didnt really cover my acne marks well.  It is buildable though so covering marks isnt really a problem, but then that would only make it feel heavier. :(  Finish is matte upon application, but an hour after dewy/oily (on my skin) already.  Also, I can't use my Beauty Blender with this as the formulation is more gel-like than liquid.  I just use my fingers to apply this.    On the pro side, it is long-wearing and really looks natural.  I also like the tube container, easy to squeeze and estimate just the needed amount.

Studio Sculpt isn't really a product I'd consider affordable, so I'm currently working with it rather than getting a nepw one.  I use my mineralized finishing powder over it after about 2minutes of application to set.  I also switched to an oil control cleanser so that kinda helped minimizing the oiliness level of my skin.  (I'll share the VERY EFFECTIVE product with you soon on this blog :)  I also ensure that I have oil blotting strips with me all the time... and my trusty Maybelline Compact Powder which I'm about to replace soon as well.  (Drop me a line to suggest any if you know a good Compact Powder :)

Would I recommend this product? YES, if you have normal skin.  It really does blend well with your skin and the dewy finish is just BEAUTIFUL :)  But if you have oily skin like me (I can't stress it enough HAHA) then SKIP this.

Fancy Shoe or Everyday Bag?

I'm currently having a shopping dilemma.  I've been eyeing a lot of things recently, but these 2 would need some more consideration and deliberation as they are above Php 5,000.00 -- my personal budget limit on things I buy that can't be classified under impulse buys. (Thanks Mom and Ate Jaja for owning designer bags I can borrow :D, and thanks day job for setting my limit :/)

So i would need your help in deciding which one I'd get over these two:

1. Vivienne Westwood for Melissa, Lady Dragon Heart in Gray, with Blue Heart

I saw these at Geleia in Trinoma last Friday.  I didn't know that there's a shop now solely selling Melissa shoes here in the country.  My interest on this grew when Ate Jhona, the sister of my boyfriend, got a pair in Fuschia about 3 weeks ago at Greenbelt.  It looked lovely on her feet when she tried it on, and it equally felt heavenly on mine when I slipped them on last Friday at Geleia. GANDA! I was with my lil sis, Boomie, and she just rolled her eyes at me, and scolded me not to get these (YET!) YAN ANG LITTLE SISTER. Haha :)

But look, the color is so reminiscient of my college days!!! GO ATENEO!!  How can I resist??  Yours for only Php 5,999.

2. Cambridge Satchel

Item 2 is the Cambridge Satchel, slowly taking over what seemed to be Longchamp Le Pliage's foothold.  While the Le Pliage is still very popular, the Cambride Satchel has quickly gained love from Filipino celebrities and icons like Chuvaness among others.

I'm looking at getting one in vintage brown or red in 14".  Should I decide to get this over the Melissa heels, I'll be ordering from Schu.  They have stocks on hand in Rockwell and Shangri La, but not in the colors I want :(

Wait lang, parang I want the fluoroscent orange too :/

Beauty Blender and its awesomeness!!

I got this super cute, pink, egg-shaped reusable makeup sponge called Beauty Blender as a birthday gift from my ex-officemates Faline & Lalaine last March and I've been using it religiously since then.  A lot of MUAs have claimed that this does a better job over brushes.  Before owning this, I used to only use my fingers to spread liquid foundation over my face.  Also, prior to getting this, I was already familiar with it as I've seen it online and at PCX early this year, so it was great joy when I found out they got me this as a present. :D

The Beauty Blender promises to give you an air-brush effect by using light, bouncing motions on your face,  also called stippling in the beauty world, to give you the perfect, flawless finish.  I can personally attest to this, and I highly recommend it to those who are having a hard time achieving that natural, well-balanced application of foundation.  You can use the big, rounded end all over your face, while the slightly pointed end can be used in hard to reach, and sensitive areas like the sides of your nose and under your eyes.  Just make sure you wash it and keep it dry after every use to prevent mold formation.

The only downside that I see with this product is its price.  Suggested product life is only 3 to 6 months the longest for hygienic purposes given that it's a sponge which can easily breed bacteria even with utmost care.

Here in the Philippines, you can get yours at PCX branches.  I am still not sure where else you can get it.  It is sold in single packs, or bundled with a bottle of the cleanser.  The single pack currently retails at around Php 1,000+.

Currently Wearing: ShoesOne MiuMiu inspired jeweled sandals, in black

I'm currently wearing my Miu Miu inspired jeweled shoe (Spring 2010) that I got from ShoesOne. Not really sure if it was a smart thing to wear it this early on in my new workplace, but I guess they'll eventually come to know my love for shoes so it's okay... :/ Actual photo of the pair I own is below:

The original comes in a super girly Pink shade, with black swallow print. SUPER CUTE..and SUPER MAHAL! haha :) :

This one looks more similar to what I have, but I believe this color & print never came out in the jeweled, sling back style shown above:

You can get yours for pre-order at my fave online shoe shop, highstylefancy.multiply.com.  This pair would take about 2 weeks-1month waiting time but it's worth it :)

Can't get your hands on MAC's Viva Glam Gaga Lipglass?

I was in Landmark Dept. Store, Trinoma earlier today for work-related matters and little did I know that today would be quite momentous!  I knew I'd somehow get lost in the cosmetics area, now that I'm working for the best skin care company, but I didnt expect to find a new make up discovery as this is not part of our current item list.  After visiting different stores today that carry our company's lines, my supervisors gave me time to roam around the department store before heading back to the office.  I immediately proceeded to the make-up counters of different brands as I'm already running out of foundation.

My search for a new foundation was unsuccesful.  I realized I'd just set time aside in the weekend to drop by MAC to get myself the best foundation.  I'd probably blog about it next when I get it na :)

Anyway, I was successful in finding something else... MAC VIVA GLAM GAGA I LIPGLASS DUPES!  I'm a big fan of the washed out pinks/baby pinks lip color so this got me really excited.  I've been looking for the best one available here in the Phils so I consider this day pretty significant for finding it! It's made by Lola Cosmetics, and it's their lipgloss in the shade of Ballet Slippers.  It currently retails at Php 900.00 so it's not far off from the MAC in terms of pricing.  THough i believe they deliver the same result... so that would mean complete with the slightly heavy, goopy effect :( which I dont really mind! The Lola Lipgloss has Vitamin E and Jojoba that helps in moisturizing the lips, plus green tea that helps treat chapped and sad lips.  Best part about it for me is that it's also infused with mint extracts leaving your lips tingling from the cooling sensation.  I absolutely love it!

They also have a color similar to Viva Glam Gaga II Lipglass if you're more into nudes called Almost Paradise :
