FAMEALY DAY IS TODAY! :)

Despite the bad & gloomy weather, don't forget to go home early today to celebrate FAMEALY DAY!  I am in full support of Lucky Me's campaign to make eating together with the family more of a habit.  Eating together with the family has proven benefits like making the bond between family members stronger resulting to more added benefits such as well-brought up offsprings, helping them veer away from the dangers that society currently pose such as alcohol, drugs, and pre-marital sex.

See, even celebrities are in full support of this campaign!

So rush home later, and make today the start of a daily "eating together" habit :D

September 26 is FAMEALY DAY!

Hey guys, don't forget TO GO HOME EARLY on Monday, September 26 to celebrate this year's Famealy Day and have an awesome dinner with your families!  I personally have been trying to make this more of a daily habit, leading me to skip gym for about 2 weeks now. hahahah But hey! It's a pretty good cause :)

Below is the current TVC from Lucky Me's Kainang Pamilya Mahalaga campaign...though I enjoyed the second one more because of the presence of JLC haha (ang lusog niya, Lucky Me making him more healthy? haha)..and Sharon looks great! And is it me, or is Sarah super blooming now more than ever?  and who doesnt take a second look at Derek's cuts. HAHA :)  Enough about that now, if they can take time out from their busy schedules to spend this special day with their families, then so should you! No excuses!

HAVE A HAPPY FAMEALY DAY! :)

The Audrina Top : PHP 449

I admit it.  I named the items I’m selling online after The Hills characters.  There’s really no rhyme or reason for naming them as such except for my love for the MTV “reality” hit show.  I did however try to match the item style with the characters :D

Like the Audrina Top for example.  Audrina is that girl with jet black hair, stark black eyeliner on both upper & lower lash lines & whose wardrobe consists of mostly blacks, greys and whites.  Despite her rockin’ body, she prefers to wear mostly slouchy tops although there’s no argument that it still showed off her “best assets” as the tops’ draped beautifully on her perfect frame.  Her body is so SOLID (haha sorry for the lack of a better term)  that a worn-in Men’s shirt still looks incredibly sexy on her.

And as such, The Audrina Top should do the same for you!  It will hang over your torso & will create subtle draping by the hem due to the top’s cut, has ¾ sleeves that will hug your arms snug, and is v-neck to show just the right amount of décolletage to lend that sexy vibe.  The LONDON studded print mixes in a pop of aggressiveness which makes the top perfect to match with last year’s liquid leggings, this season’s leather skirts, or always in season jeans…(ripped just about everywhere!)  Throw in your fave hiking boots for maximum rock appeal, or your sky high stilettos that’ll  blow any man away (Note: Red Lipstick optional!)

The Audrina Top is still available at in MEDIUM and LARGE for only Php 449.  Click on the link below to grab one now! :)

MAC Pro Longwear Lipcreme in Good to Go

I know I just blogged about a fave lipstick, and I want to kill myself for being so indecisive, but I think I'm loving another one even more than Saint Germain. GAH.  I love lipsticks too much that I know now that it's impossible to have only one favorite.  So I'll just pick one favorite from a parent color---like one fave for pinks, one fave for reds, one fave for oranges, etc.  Today, I'll share with you my fave orange lipstick... and I believe it will remain as such coz my other orange lipstick is more coral-ly than bright orange and in no way can beat this new fave as im a "bright lipstick" kind of girl despite/inspite of my skin tone.

Orange wasn't really one of my fave colors when I was a kid since it looks so bright and loud.  I'm morena and I grew up as one of the darker kids that I always veered away from all things orange because I believed it clashed with my skin tone.  Thanks to the fashion gods, they one day pointed out how good blindingly bright, neon colors looked against brown skin.  I was still in high school and did not care to follow or even try what were printed in magazines.  It was only in college when I opened up my world to the wonderful world of Beauty and Fashion and started to experiment in colored clothing, shoes and accessories outside the world of black and whites.

Moving on, I finally got my MAC package about 2 weeks ago.  I only got 5 items, 2 of which I bought for my mom.  One of the three that is mine though is MAC's Pro Longwear Lipcreme in Good to Go which I can't help but rave about.

First is the COLOR.  Some would say it's shocking orange, but I think it really does depend from person to person.  I wouldnt have minded a shocking orange really, but upon application, it turned to a warmer shade of orange resulting to a more red-orange shade on me.  I'm not sure if my acidity levels have got something to do with it but that would be my theory for now.  I have yet to test it on my sister who's blessed with a lip shade that works as a perfect canvas for lip color.  But I'm already assuming that it would turn out more neon on her than on me.  Inggit :(  But no worries, I can always use concealer as base to achieve the same shade..hassle nga lang :/  Also, the color is very opaque that a single layer is enough to prettify your pout.)

Second is the FINISH.    I would classifiy it between matte and glossy which I think is the best!  My lips tend to get dry easily which the formulation of the Pro Longwear line easily solves without giving you the "oily lips" look.  Perfect.

Third is the LONGEVITY. I put it on at 9 in the morning and it lasts til after work, around 6PM (note: Even after brushing my teeth after lunch) . enough said.

Fourth is the PACKAGING.  The tube finish is similar to the usual tube, but in terms of shape and size, the Pro Longwear line case is flat on both ends, slightly slimmer and also a bit longer so still not a problem to fit in your everyday makeup kit.  It packs 0.12oz of product, a 0.2 oz difference from the regular lipstick.  When twisted out of the tube, the lipstick/lipcreme has a flat surface which some may find hard to apply directly on the lips.

The verdict?  Get this if you're the type who doesnt like re-applying her lippie every hour or so.  They come in really pretty colors too.  My personal faves are Good to Go and Love Forever!  (I'm just not sure of the availability of the line here in Manila though... the last time I checked, they only have Unlimited on stock.)

***First 2 photos are taken with my mobile phone camera so quality is really grainy.

Youngblood Pressed Mineral Rice Powder

Remember when I asked for suggestions on which compact powder to get?  Well, considering that I only have two fans (Hi Lalaine and Cla!), I wasn't surprised when I didn't get any recommendations. HAHA!  But since I really needed to get a new powder, I made my way to Beauty Bar the day I pat on the last few particles left from my Maybelline Compact Powder (which I still do love, and should you decide to get one and you're morena...try it in "Honey" shade)  I wanted to get one from MAC, but I was in Eastwood at that time and since they didn't carry MAC, I just decided to browse through Beauty Bar's extensive offering.

I initially had my heart on The Balm's Sexy Mama transluscent powder.  This is what my little sister Boomie is using and I really liked it the one time I tried it on coz it has this AMAZING mattifying effect...a winner for me and my forever oily face!  However I find that the shade isn't really universal, and goes on better on lighter people.  But check out it's super cute packaging!! Winner!!:

Sexymama
I then saw the counter for Youngblood and remembered my friend Anne's words of praise for this brand whch is actually a mineral cosmetics line.  The saleslady recommended that I get their Pressed Mineral Rice Powder which works best as a setting powder and works just as well on touch-ups.  She then sampled it on me using a large fluffy brush, though the compact comes with a white round sponge.  I wasnt really sold, but since I really needed it already..I purchased it.  This is currently priced at Php 1,850.00.

Here's the product description from Youngblood's website http://www.ybskin.com/shop/index.php?cPath=21_33&osCsid=5867aa8ff6276b11c15c67b87f9ca804:

The pressed version of our exquisitely silky Mineral Rice Setting Powder, offered in a convenient compact for on-the-go use. Controls shine and helps diminish the appearance of pores and fine lines to create a flawless, long-lasting matte finish. 100% talc free. 0.35oz/10g

I agree 100% to the above description by the way :)

I now use it as a setting powder in the morning with a fluffy brush, but just with the sponge that comes with it when outside the house.  So far, I've been liking the product because it does the job which for me means: it keeps the shine away!  I got it in the "Medium" shade which perfectly blends well with my skin (They have 3 shades: Light, Medium, and Dark).  It's also not hard to get an even coverage coz it goes on your skin smoothly.  The result?   An even colored, matte and oil-free face! The product is really growing on me the more I use it.  No worries too on getting breakouts coz it is "mineralized".  The packaging--I also like coz it has a magnet which keeps the compact closed as opposed to other compacts which closes through plastic indentions on the side (gets ba? naloka nako i-explain haha)

Here are photos of the product:

and here are photos of me with the product on, sans other makeup products.  This was taken in the morning after brushing the powder over my MAC Studio Sculpt foundation. (excuse my funny face :p)

To end, here are some application tips from the website which I only found out about now.  Cool, excited to try them out (I currently only do the last one haha):

To prime face for long lasting oil control: Apply rice powder with a sponge or brush over desired areas, then apply foundation. To reduce appearance of large pores: Apply with cosmetic sponge before makeup application. Stipple and roll sponge to set product. To achieve matte finish when using the natural mineral loose foundation: Blend 2 parts foundation with 1 part rice powder. Apply with brush for a shine free coverage. To set makeup for long lasting wear: Simply dust Mineral Rice Setting powder over your foundation with a large fluffy cosmetic brush.
